This paper summarizes the study of the Mediterranean mean sea level variability and its representation by a mathematical model. The singular spectrum analysis technique (SSA) is applied to the series of mean sea level anomalies, collected from different altimetry missions over the period of January 1993 to December 2009. The SSA technique shows that the frequency of the annual signal is particularly strong in the Mediterranean Sea. The contribution of this annual signal is of 72.38% of the original signal, while its amplitude is about 14.5 cm.The global analysis indicates that the Mediterranean mean sea level has increased by 1.72 mm per year since 1993.en_EN
