Abstract

Abstract : The objective of this study is to clarify the relationship between exchange rate and balance of payments changes and to highlight the effects of the local currency devaluation policy under the structural reform program by reducing the deficit in the balance of payments by formulating a model showing the effect of exchange rate changes on the dinar Algerian and Euro against the balance of payments during the period from 2007 to 2016. This study found that the policy of exchange in Algeria (the devaluation policy) had a positive effect on Algeria's balance of payments. This is not reflected in the reality of the Algerian economy, which is based on its exports of fuel, which indicates that the devaluation of the currency is not affecting the balance of payments.
