The study carried out in the region of ZERIBET EL OUED aimed to determine the prevalence of abscess disease, to highlight its epidemiological and pathological characteristics in sheep in the region and to determine its clinical and lesional characteristics. Surveys were carried out on sheep farms in different areas of the region were carried out during the period from January to May 2019. They covered 7265 animals distributed in 33 breeding. The results show that about 88 % of the farms are affected by this disease. The overall prevalence was 5.06% in the farms. Defective hygiene, the confinement of animals in narrow premises, and the use of traumatic equipment (feeders, drinking troughs and metal fencing) seem to be the main factors favoring the spread of abscesses between animals in the same herd.
