Investigating the Teacher's Roles in Dealing with learners with Learning Disabilities A Case study of third year Middle School Learners at Dahmani Abdelhamid Ben s'rour

Abstract

Abstract The study aims at investigating the effectiveness of the teachers' role in reducing the barriers that learning disabilities generate to the learners to learn effectively which are presented in the low performance of the learners. Therefore, we seek through this study to find effective teaching strategies that can work with the problems of the learners with Learning disabilities ( LDs). In this work, we hypothesise that once the teacher is knowledgeable about learning disabilities, he will manage properly The learners with learning disabilities. This latter enables him/her to reduce the impact of the learning disabilities and assist the learners with LDs effectively to achieve better academic results. To test our proposed hypothesis, we opted for a qualitative method approach in this work. Henceforth, two data gathering tools were used to investigative the role of the teacher in assisting his learners with LDs to perform better in the school. A classroom observation took place within the four classes of the third year level at Dahmani Abdelhamid middle school as well as two questionnaires were administered to 20 teachers and 40 learners. Eventually, after collecting, analysing, and interpreting the results obtained from the two data gathering tools, the findings displayed that the knowledge of teachers about the learning disabilities can provide them with effective teaching strategies to deal learners with LDs. The outcomes also show that the proper intervention and support of the teachers will lessen significantly the influence of LDs on learners and allow them to achieve higher academic achievementsالملخص الهدف من إجراء هاته الدراسة هو التحقق من مدى فاعلیة دور الأستاذ من الحد من الحواجز التي تخلقها صعوبات التعلم للتلامیذ التي تحول دول تعلمهم بفاعلیة و التي تبدو السبب في دنو الأداء التعلمي للتلامیذ . كبدایة للبحث افترضنا أن أستاذ ذوي الحاجیات الخاصة عندما یكون على علم بصعوبات التعلم و الآثار السلبیة لها قد یؤدي إلى تعامله بطریقة جیدة في التعامل معهم . هذا الأخیر یمكنه من التقلیل من حدة أثر صعوبات التعلم و كذا مساعدته لهؤلاء التلامیذ في تحقیق نجاحات جیدة. و للتحقق من صحة الفرضیات تم استعمال المنهج الو صفي ومنه اخترنا وسیلتین لجمع المعلومات اللازمة للتأكد من صحة الفرضیتین. الأدوات التي استعملت في هذا البحث هي قائمة الملاحظات العینیة للكشف عن كیفیة تعامل الأساتذة مع التلامیذ مع التلامیذ ذوي صعوبات التعلم داخل الأقسام وكیف یدرس هؤلاء الطلبة . بالإضافة إلى ذلك قمنا بتوزیع استبیان لكل من الأساتذة المقدر عددهم ب 20 أستاذا و أیضا للطلبة الذین یدرسون بالمستوى الثالث متوسط بمتوسطة دحماني عبد الحمید ببن سرور. كنهایة لهذا البحث ومن خلال النتائج المتحصل علیها من تحلیلینا للمعطیات خلصنا إلى القول بأن معرفة الأستاذ لصعوبات التعلم وما تخلفه من سلبیات مهم جد في تزویده بطرق تعلیمیة فعالة في التعامل مع هؤلاء الطلبة و توصلنا أیضا إلى أن تدخل الأستاذ ومساندته یساهم بشكل كبیر في التقلیل من خطر صعوبات التعلم وكذلك یساعد الطلاب ذوي صعوبات التعلم على تحقیق انجازات مدرسیة جیدة.
