dc.description.abstract	We have dealt with this humble work entitled « The legal regime of the change of surname in Algeria », the legal steps to be taken by the applicant for a change of surname, as well as the measures taken by the judicial authorities in this regard for general cases which fall under the decree 71/157 of 03/06/1971 relating to the change of surname. As well as special cases such as: * The case of the sponsored child of unknown parentage, which was created by Executive Decree 92/24 of 01/13/1921 supplementing the aforementioned decree relating to the change of surname. * The case of persons born abroad listed by the legislator by Executive Decree 20/223 of 08/08/2020 amending and supplementing Decree 71/157 of 06/03/1971 relating to the change of surname	en_US
