dc.description.abstractThe method developed in this work uses an alternative functional variable method to construct exact travelling solutions to a class of nonlinear wave equations. It is shown that it is possible to obtain by a direct treatment the general solutions to some important nonlinear model equations which arise in a wide variety of physical problems. We have also presented some interesting typical examples to illustrate the application of this method.
