dc.description.abstract | Mastering communicative competence is an important point for success in learning a foreign language. It seems that the majority of learners of English as a foreign language may face some difficulties in learning vocabulary which constitutes a major part of any successful communication. Recognizing the importance of vocabulary for EFL learners, and in attempt to find ways to improve vocabulary load, this work aims to explore the impact of using English songs as supportive teaching tools in enhancing vocabulary learning. The study hypothesises that employing English songs as teaching materials would improve EFL learners’ vocabulary learning. To test the validity of the hypothesis, two data collection tools were utilised. An experiment with pre-test, post-test control group design and a post questionnaire were undertaken with first year EFL learners at Biskra University to examine the impact of English songs on Vocabulary learning and to spot light on their viewpoints and attitudes towards the use of songs in the EFL classroom. The results revealed that English songs have a positive impact on vocabulary learning improvement. Thus, this proposed tool proved significant in enhancing learners’ vocabulary proficiency. Moreover, learners were found to hold positive attitudes towards the use of songs as instructional motivational tools in the learning process. The dissertation concludes with some suggestions and recommendations addressed to improve the overall EFL teaching/ learning process. | en_US |
