dc.description.abstract | Deviation is a linguistic phenomenon in which speech goes beyond its apparent meaning. It is an art form among rhetorical devices that represents the transition from one meaning to another or from one pronoun to another. This transition occurs between three positions )speaking, addressing, and gossiping(. As a result, six elements of deviation emerge, representing the most common types of deviation. Rhetorical scholars have agreed upon two fundamental conditions that must be fulfilled: The pronoun being referred to should refer back to another pronoun in two different sentences. Deviation in speech serves a specific purpose and objective, and scholars categorize it into general and specific benefits. Among the purposes of deviation are gentleness, reprimanding, exalting, and others... In this study, I addressed the topic in two theoretical and applied chapters. In the first chapter, titled "The Concept and Terminology of Deviation," I discussed deviation in terms of language, terminology, origin, evolution, conditions, types, and objectives. The second chapter, titled "Types of Deviations in Surah Al-Mulk," focused on deviation from gossip to speaking, deviation between addressing and gossiping, deviation from addressing to gossiping, expressing plurality through dual language, expressing singularity through singular words, addressing singular using plural words, and verb agreement with nouns. I concluded my study with a summary conclusion. | en_US |
