dc.description.abstract | Algerian digital citizens now have a free space for political engagement thanks to the social networks of private news outlets in their country. A place that is not governed by the realistic community or traditional media organizations' ethical, professional, social, and legal standards. Even though these interactions and conversations play a constructive role in raising awareness, they are frequently tainted by rumors, false information, and false news, particularly when talking about political problems. All of which may distort the political awareness of the Algerian digital citizen In our study, we sought to understand how interactions on private Algerian news channels' social networks influenced the political consciousness of online Algerians. This is accomplished by looking at interactivity as a function, rather than a characteristic, especially in light of the existence of two mechanisms for interaction. The first mechanism relates to how a user interacts with the content posted on the Al-Nahar TV and Al-Bilad channels' Facebook pages, while the second mechanism relates to how users interact with one another through the same two pages. A special political function in forming the political consciousness of the digital citizen of Algeria. This led the researcher to pose the key question: How does interaction influence the political consciousness of the digital citizen in Algeria? Our study used two online survey tools to poll the audience of digital citizens who follow the Facebook pages, Al-Nahar TV and Al-Bilad, with the aim of describing the phenomenon by tracking the variables related to the interaction of the Algerian digital citizens and its impact on forming their political awareness. The sample size was estimated at (256) people, and for the analytical part, we used a content analysis form to look at how online users interacted with one another. In order to identify the forms and contents of political engagement and the political issues relevant to the formation of the political awareness of the Algerian digital citizen, a multi-stage random sample with an estimated size of (384) participants was used. The study produced a series of findings that may be summed up as follows: - The Facebook pages of private Algerian news channels serve as a constant source of news and media for the digital citizen who prefers to follow these pages because of the frequent and immediate updates, the opportunity for participation, the freedom of expression, and the opportunity for commenting and interacting. - The presidential elections on December 12, 2019, the marches and events of the popular movement on February 22, 2019, the referendum to amend the constitution on November 1, 2020, and other national political issues were among the most prominent ones. The Algerian digital citizen prefers to discuss politics with friends. - The digital citizen of Algeria frequently engages with the political themes of the movie while he watches it, whether by writing and sharing posts or expressing admiration. - The most people engaging in voting on the amendment of the Algerian constitution are digital citizens who have previously interacted with news connected to the amendment of the Algerian constitution through the Facebook pages of private Algerian news channels. - The interaction of digital citizens with political publications on political corruption helped them recognize corrupt political practices in Algeria and raised awareness among citizens and the general public about the importance of maintaining national unity. The interactions that include insults, interactions that impact symbols of national sovereignty, interactions that are racist or regional are the ones that encourage the Algerian digital citizen to avoid connecting with other users. - The study's findings showed that interaction between online citizens and other users on the Facebook pages increased their political engagement, whether by voting in elections, joining a political party, or taking part in a referendum to amend the constitution. - The digital citizen of Algeria is more likely to engage in linguistic textual interactions that take the shape of remarks written in informal language, most of which are negative and unsatisfied with the nation's current circumstances. In his political interactions on the social networks of exclusive Algerian news outlets, he also frequently employs various identities. - The goals of the Algerian digital citizen's interactions range from cognitive goals to know the country's political and social laws and events to analytical goals to analyze political decisions to satirical goals to mock political and partisan figures, political and social situations, and critical goals to criticize political parties, individuals, and political decisions. | en_US |
