dc.description.abstract | Stress has attracted the attention of many research fields, including clinical psychology, in order to get to know it closely, stand up for its effects, and try to find effective solutions and strategies to mitigate it. Hence this study, which aims to identify the relationship between perceived stress and quality of life among doctors and nurses of the medical and surgical emergency departments, as well as detecting the level of both perceived stress and quality of life, in addition to identifying differences in both according to some demographic and occupational variables. The comprehensive survey method was followed in the field part of study, with a total of 134 doctors and nurses. After retrieving the answers to the study measures, the sample was narrowed down to 110 individuals (15 specialist doctors, 30 général doctors, and 65 nurses). In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive approach was adopted in both its relational and comparative methods, and the perceived stress scale of Cohen et al. (PSS-14), and the WHOQOL-Bref scale of quality of life were used. The results of the study revealed the following: - There is a medium negative correlation with statistical significance at the level of & = 0.05 between perceived stress and quality of life for doctors and nurses. - The level of perceived stress among doctors and is medium. - The level of quality of life among doctors and nurses is medium. - There are statistically significant differences at the level of &= 0.05 in the perceived pressure of doctors and nurses due to the gender variable in favor of females. - There are no statistically significant differences in perceived pressure due to the variables of age and marital status. - There are differences in the perceived pressure attributed to the professional category in favor of the category of general practitioner, then specialist doctor, then nurse. - There are no differences in the perceived pressure due to the variable of professional seniority and the interest of affiliation. - There are statistically significant differences at &= 0.05 in the quality of life of doctors and nurses due to demographic variables: "gender" in favor of males "and the variable of marital status" in favor of the married, then bachelors, then divorced, then widows. - There are no statistically significant differences in the quality of life due to the age variable. - There are no statistically significant differences in the quality of life due to the occupational variables. Hence, we conclude that the perceived pressure that the doctor and nurse is exposed to in the emergency departments, which is one of the most work environments that have multiple sources of pressure, in addition to the pressured nature of the professions, which negatively affects their quality of life by affecting its various dimensions. | en_US |
