dc.description.abstractThe present study aimed at investigating the interface between parenting styles, psychological flexibility and achievement motivation propensity among high achieving students. Equally, the study sought to enquire into the predictability of psychological flexibility though the medium of parenting styles and achievement motivation among secondary school students. Additionally, this piece of research sought to discern discrepancies between high and low achieving students. To this end, a descriptive-correlational and comparative paradigm was employed to a purposive sample of 248 low as well as high achieving second year students distributed across four secondary schools in Djelfa province. As measurement tools, the EMBU Parental Rearing Styles Scale, the Échelle de la RésiliencePsychologique (ÉHR) were used. Results were as follows: - There is a statistically significant relationship between parental parenting styles, psychological flexibility, and achievement motivation among high-achieving secondary school students. - There is a statistically significant relationship between parenting styles, psychological flexibility, and achievement motivation among low-achieving secondary school students. - Psychological flexibility can be predicted through parenting styles and achievement motivation among secondary school students. - Differences exist in parental parenting styles in favour of low-achieving secondary school students. - Differences exist in psychological flexibility in favour of high-achieving secondary school students. - Differences exist in achievement motivation in favour of high-achieving students secondary school students.en_US
