The current study aimed primarily at examining the existing relationship between the Early Maladaptive Cognitive Schemas and the time perspective among a sample of healthcare workers who recovered from the COVID-19 virus (doctors, paramedics, administrators) at Dr. Saadane hospital-Biskra. This was done after identifying the most common schemas and dominant dimensions of time perspective in the study. It also aimed at determining differences in Both the scores of maladaptive cognitive schemas and the scores of the dimensions of time perspective based on gender and occupational category. Additionally, The study sought to investigate the extent to which the scores of early maladaptive cognitive schemas contribute to predicting the scores of the dimensions of time perspective. To achieve these objectives, and while relying on the descriptive correlational approach, both Young Schemas Questionnaire (short version) (YSQ) (Prepared by: Young, 1999, translated & adapted by: Abdel Aziz Haddar, 2009) and the short version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTIP) (prepared by: Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999, translated & adapted by: Suleiman Jarallah and Muhammad Saghir Sharafi, 2009), were employed. These instruments were administered to a purposive sample of 130 participants (43 males, 66.9%, and 87 females, 33.1%). After the statistical analysis of the study data, the following results were obtained: ➢The most common Early Maladaptive Cognitive schemas among healthcare Workers who have recovered from the COVID-19 virus are: unrelenting standards or Hypercriticalness, self-sacrifice, entitlement or grandiosity. ➢The dimensions of the time perspective adopted by Healthcare workers recovered from the COVID-19 virus are diverse, with the forefront being the future dimension. ➢There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the total score of Early Maladaptive cognitive schemas and both the negative past dimension (at a significance level of (0.05) and the Present Fatalistic dimension (at a significance level of 0.01) among individuals in the study sample. ➢There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the Negative Past dimension and both the abandonment or instability at 0.05, and the self-sacrifice at 0.05) among individuals in the study sample. ➢ There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the Fatalistic present dimension and the following schemas (Abandonment or Instability at 0.01, Mistrust or Abuse at 0.05, Failure at 0.05, Dependence or Incompetence at 0.05, Submission at 0.05, Emotional Deprivation at 0.05) among individuals in the study sample. ➢There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the negative future dimension and the following schemas (Emotional Deprivation at 0.01, Abandonment or Instability at 0.05, Self-Sacrifice at 0,01) among individuals in the study sample. ➢There is a statistically significant negative correlation between the positive past dimension and the following schemas (Defectiveness or shame at 0.05), dependence or incompetence at 0.05), Subjugation at 0.05). among individuals in the study sample. ➢There is a statistically significant negative correlation at 0.05 between Emotional Deprivation schema and future dimension among individuals in the study sample. ➢ There are no statistically significant differences in all dimensions of time perspective and Early Maladaptive Cognitive schemas (except for social isolation or alienation) between male and female Healthcare workers who recovered from the COVID-19 virus. ➢ There are no statistically significant differences in all dimensions of time perspective and Early Maladaptive Cognitive Schemas (except mistrust or abuse schema on behalf of administrators) among members of the study sample according to the job category variable (doctors, paramedics, administrators). ➢The study results also revealed the capability of certain Early Maladaptive Cognitive Schemas to predict dimensions of time perspective (except for the hedonistic present).en_US
