In this work, a technique for constructing a non-stationary Multiresolution Analysis is presented. Our method is based on the choice of a suitable wavelet basis guided by an application to signal processing. Two specific applications were presented in the context of ECG signal classification and wavelet-based approximation of digital images. Simulations have been carried out to prove the effectiveness of our methoden_US
