dc.description.abstractThis study focused on studying social phobiaas an emotional behavioral disorder that affects all social, psychological, professional and academic aspects, and this is what makes it a real problem that requires experimenting with some counseling techniques to treat it, which is the goal that this study seeks to achieve, as it aims to know the effectiveness of metacognitive counseling (attention training t echnique) in reducing the level of social phobia among university students. The study sample consisted of (04) four female students from Psychology Department, Faculty ofHumanities and Social Sciences, Department of Social Sciences, who obtained a score greater than 72 on the social phobia scale The study was based on the following hypotheses: - Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training technique) affect reducing the level of social phobia among university students. To validate the hypothesis, we tested the following hypotheses: - Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training techniques) affect the reduction of avoidance behaviors and fear of confrontation. -Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training technique) affect reducing fear of negative evaluation when interacting -Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training technique) affect the reduction of physiological symptoms The study tools consisted of the social phobia scale and the counseling program based on metacognitive counseling, the attention training technique, and after analyzing the results, the current study found the following: -Metacognitive counseling (attention training technique) affects reducing the level of social phobia among university students By verifying the sub-hypotheses: - Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training techniques) affect the reduction of avoidance behaviors and fear of confrontation. - Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training technique) affect reducing fear of negative evaluation when interacting. -Metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training technique) affect the reduction of physiological symptoms The results of the current study were interpreted in the light of the theoretical framework and the results of previous studies, coupled with a set of proposals and recommendations related to the subject of the study. The results indicate the effectiveness of metacognitive counseling techniques (attention training technique) in reducing the level of social phobia The results concluded with the importance of technical attention training in reducing the level of social phobia among university students.en_US
