In this paper, a renewable desalination system is presented. It combines results from a reverse osmosis desalination system with a wind energy conversion. A control strategy is proposed for optimizing energy system. This method is based on a higher order sliding mode to control the wind generator that uses a wind turbine connected to a permanent magnet synchronous machine and operating with a variable flux of induction motor based on genetic algorithms. The results of simulation with MATLAB / SIMULINK tool are presented to validate the robustness and effectiveness of this control strategyen_US
