Abstract: Electrical characterization of hydrogeological formations allows easy access to water in rural areas where waters resources of surface and groundwater is becoming increasingly difficult as in eastern Algeria. This work is syntheses of thousands of vertical electrical soundings were carried out in order to implement boreholes whose water is intended for irrigation. Impermeable formations or low interest hydrogeological have a resistivity varied: <5 Ω.m for salt formations,  15 Ω.m for clays, 30 to 40 Ω.m for marl, 60 to 70 Ω.m for schist and > 350 Ω.m for compact sedimentary formations and igneous and metamorphic rocks. Permeable formations are characterized by resistivities ranging from 20 to 100 ohm.m sometimes similar to those of formations such as shale or impermeable formations such as aquifers not Azzaba alluvium or sand Bir El Ater. Karstified limestones are characterized by resistivities which range between 250 and 350 ohm.m. Only a preliminary geological and hydrogeological knowledge bit to avoid confusion.
