The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of various reaction parameters on the stoichiometric coagulant dosage / organic matter during coagulation-flocculation with aluminum sulphate. Jar tests were carried out on pyromellitic acid dissolved in distilled water. The results indicate that the effectiveness of the method and dosage of coagulant depends on the pH of the dilution and the initial concentration of the organic compound. The predominant mechanisms in the process were complexation or ligand exchange with insoluble or soluble aluminum species. Highlighting a stoichiometry of reactions showed that the laws linking the dosage of coagulant to initial concentration of pyromellitic acid depended mainly pH in distilled water.en_EN
