Abstract: The aim of this work is to test the performance of powdered activated carbon (PAC) and granular activated carbon (GAC) in the retention of humic substances (HS) in the presence of amino acids namely tyrosine (Tyr) and histidine (His) in distilled water. The CAP and GAC adsorption were carried out of static reactor by adopting different operating conditions. These experiments were performed at pH 7± 0, 1. The results obtained showed that the presence of histidine and tyrosine evolution removal efficiencies of humic substances depending on the variation of the contact time was recorded yields not exceeding 60% with kinetics fairly rapid. Similarly, the variation of the doses of activated carbon with induces an antagonistic phenomenon between tyrosine and histidine. The presence of the humic substances with varying concentration of tyrosine and histidine allowed showing an inhibitory effect of the adsorption of the humic substances. The variation of the concentration of tyrosine and histidine allowed showing an inhibitory effect of the adsorption of
