S software is used to study the effect of the relative permittivity on CIGS based solar cells. It is found that whenever the 𝐢𝑑𝑆 layer permittivity increases, the efficiency increases. It is deduced that high permittivity materials are preferred as the heterojunction partner of the absorber layer. It is also found that the permittivity of the 𝑍𝑛𝑂 window layer does not affect the solar cell performance. On the other hand, for CIGS layer, πœ€ = 4 was to be the best choice. Key words: Permittivity, CIGS solar cells, numerical simulation, J-V characteristic, SCAPS software.en_US
