Abstract: | The aim of this study is to determine experimentally the wind convection coefficient ℎ by heating an inclined metal plate (the angle varies from 0° to 90°) and exposing it to a uniform airflow (the air velocity varies from 1 m/s to 5 m/s) and then recording its temperature variation during a time period of 20 min. The plate thermal energy conservation equation was used to introduce the experimental data in order to obtain the value of the wind convection coefficient using the least squares method. The results do not show a significant effect of the angle of attack; and in comparison with the results of previous studies, our results show an acceptable agreement with those obtained with the boundary layer theory, but they show a significant difference with the other studies. Key words : wind convection coefficient; inclined metal plate; boundary layer; least squares method. |
