Abstract The cost of excluding countries from the WTO is higher than the cost of joining it. Through this, the accession protocols to the new members of the organization have proven their importance not only in strengthening the multilateral trade rules, but also in helping the governments that join in implementing domestic economic and political reforms to achieve good governance. This led Algeria to try to join this international forum. From here, we can ask the following question: To what extent are the obligations and conditions for membership of the World Trade Organization capable of bringing about political and economic changes to promote good governance and democratic development in the political systems of countries in general and Algeria in particular?en_US
