Slavery is a phenomenon that appeared in ancient human civilizations. It was a social system that began toexistinthe Babylonian,Pharaonic, Greek civilizations, andalso in the Roman culture. This phenomenon still exists today. Therefore, the international community is keen to fight this heinous crime, which represents the harshest forms of human exploitation and slave trade. In this respect, I can cite many international conventions that have been signed to end slavery. The 1926 International Slavery Convention , the Supplementary Convention on the Abolition of Slavery of 1956, the Forced Labour Convention of 1930, the International Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts of Slavery and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, then the Convention on the Prohibition of Forced Labour of 1957. Human Trafficking is a modern form of slavery, and most of the world’s countries including Algeria, have established special legislations to fight this crime, that’s why my subject study deals with the crime of slavery under international law. I have dealt with it in two parts: The first part, divided into two chapters, deals withslavery and its contemporary aspects. Chapter one deals with the concept of slavery and chapter twowith the contemporary aspects of slavery. The second part deals with the international mechanisms against the crime of slavery. This part is also divided into two chapters. In Chapter I, I have discussed the international conventions against slavery and in Chapter II; I have examined the substantive and procedural criminal trade of trafficking crimes. At the end of the study, I have dealt with the most important conclusions I have reached concerning the crime of slavery and presented some suggestions and recommendations especially with regard to the Algerian National Commission for the Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking.en_US
