dc.description.abstractThis present thesis aims to analyze, from both a theoretical and experimental point of view, the hydraulic jump in both a triangular and an U shaped channel. The study investigates the effect of the bottom roughness on the jump features. From a theoretical analysis, supported by experimental data, it has been possible to obtain for both types of channels, triangular and U shaped, the theoretical relations, respectively f(Y, F1, Cr)=0 and f(y1, y2, F1, Cr)=0. It was necessary to proceed with an experimental analysis of these two functions to evaluate the relation ships which binds the roughness parameter to the absolute roughness. Furthermore, several empirical relations were obtained, allowing the sizing of the stilling basin for both configurations of jumpen_US
