Abstract

This study dealt with: the forms of gifts and the cultural and economic transformations in the Algerian society and aims to identify the impact of these transformations on the Algerian family, especially on the system of gifts in the local community and to highlight the value of the gift and its symbolism among the members of the community in establishing their social relations and their .interaction with each other The problem of this study was represented in: How did the cultural and economic transformations affect the forms of gifts within the Algerian society? :To branch out a partial question as follows How did the cultural and economic transformations affect the forms of gifts in ?the Liwian community So we relied on the ethnographic approach because our study requires that, and it is the appropriate approach for it, so we chose the Liwa region as a field for research and on a sample or informants that includes 23 individuals, where 18 are women and 5 are men, so we used anthropological research techniques represented in (observation, participation observation and undirected interview). Which helped us in collecting field data in order to reach objective results to be reached, where we concluded that the gift is a sociocultural phenomenon of an economic, continuous, evolving and obligatory nature that is governed by the customs and traditions of each society and is subject to the dominant culture in the social arena and has symbolic connotations, and in the end we find Despite the transformations that occur in societies, they change their forms and appearances, but they maintain their .content and purpose
