Abstract

Complementary study to obtain a master's degree in clinical psychology entitled: Suicidal thoughts in drug addicts. This study aimes to reveal the level of suicidal thoughts among drug addicts and to identify the factors leading the addict to suicidal thoughts, by asking the following question: Do drug addicts suffer from suicidal thoughts? The researcher has one hypothesis based on the only question: the drug addict suffers from the problem of suicidal thoughts In order to answer the question of the study, The researcher relied on the clinical approach The research vocabulary consisted of 4 cases, which were selected under the guidance of the Waseet Center for Addiction in Biskra. The beginning of the abuse of the four cases was in adolescence. The youngest is 14 years old while the oldest is 21 years. The four cases were classified as severe depression with high degrees and irrational thoughts such as suicidal thoughts, according to the correction of the scale, the second Beck scale for depression. As for the tools of the study, we relied on the DSM5 to detect symptoms of drug addiction in the concerned cases by psychologists in the intermediate center of addiction, and the Beck second scale for depression, which measures the percentage of suicidal thoughts, in addition to the semi-guided and observational clinical interview. This study concluded: Having a high score for depression and high scores on items for suicidal ideation In the end, The researcher concluds to put a number of proposals to develop prospects for research and application in this field. The psychological, physical and even social conditions of the four cases improved after they joined the addiction center and started receiving treatment.
