Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify the psychological needs of the low achieving student in the intermediate stage and to study the differences between the sexes and academic level. In order of verify the existence of these needs, a field study was conducted in tow intermediate schools in the municipality of ¨Bouchagroune¨ in the state of Biskra, where the study sample included 40 students distributed among the tow intermediate schools located in the municipality. In this study, we adopted the descriptive analytical approach, using a scale about psychological needs and using the statistical method, and we reached the following results: _The low achieving middle school student has different psychological. _ There are no statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in psychological needs. _ There are no statistically significant differences according to the educational level variable.
