The turning point in the development of applied linguistics is the establishment of linguistic associations specialized in this science, led by the International Association of Applied Linguistics. The latter has contributed effectively to the advancement of this field of knowledge through the research carried out by the linguists belonging to it in order to develop the classic issues in which applied linguistic research was confined, and then opening up this science to other sciences and bringing it out to the reality in which man lives and addressing his linguistic problems. Consequently, applied linguistics has become involved in contemporary linguistic issues. In this research, it was concluded that the accumulation of research in applied linguistics, especially in Western Europe, contributed effectively to the development of this science and that the establishment of the International Association for Applied Linguistics and its branches around the world marked a new era for this science through studies conducted on various contemporary issues. As for Arabic applied linguistics, it is still characterized by classicism due to the Arab researchers' lack of knowledge of what research has reached in this field in the developed world and their lack of awareness of the importance of applied linguistics science and the benefit it provides in various fields.en_US
