Abstract

News occupies a prominent place in the framework of television broadcasting, especially those transmitted by various bulletins, as it is the main component of television work, and an important and integral part of the daily life of the audience who is accustomed to watching it, and this is through broadcasting it on specialized channels that provide a news service. For this reason, the study aimed to reveal the way the media dealt with the works of the Arab Summit in Algeria in November 2022. This study used the content analysis tool. 2022 to 11/02/2022, relying on the survey and comparative approach to compare the news of Al-Nahar TV channel and Al-Jazeera news channel, where it dealt with the formal and objective side of the videos. Where was the starting point from a main question: How did the Arab and Algerian media handle the events of the Arab summit held in Algeria on two days November 1-2? What are the frameworks for the Algerian media's handling of the Arab summit in Algeria ? In order to answer this question, the following sub-questions were raised : - What are the most important secondary and major topics discussed during that period (November 2022) ? - What is the extent of the interest of the Arab and Algerian press in such events, especially the Arab Al-Jazeera channel and the Algerian Al-Nahar channel ? - What is the extent of the commitment of the Algerian and Arab press to the standard of professional ethics ? - What are the most important press templates and types used during the media coverage of the Arab summit through the two channels ? We answered the sub-questions by analyzing the videos of the study channels, and then reading the tables extracted from them quantitatively and qualitatively, as we reached a set of results, the most important of which are : 11 - We find that the two channels focused on the political aspect of the presentation due to the weight of the event related to the Arab summit on the one hand, and on the other hand, focusing on the most important political decisions in favor of the Arab region in the presence of Arab leaders. - The Arab press representing Al-Jazeera Arabic channel and the Algerian press representing Al-Nahar channel in Algeria paid attention to the issue of the Arab Summit as an Arab event with distinction that studies and discusses issues of Arab concern from a strategic perspective. - Employing the news of the Arab summit in a news style that conveys the latest developments to the viewer, and the interest of both channels on the active personalities in the event, with a focus on the content that these personalities make. - We find that the two channels have succeeded to a large extent in respecting the principles and standards of impartial journalistic work represented in conveying the news and media material objectively without bias, as well as using the media language in offering and presenting and colloquial language in handling in line with and respect for other societal segments that do not master Arabic and the media language. - Working to meet the needs of the summit, exclusive transfer of the topic from the event site, and the use of journalistic work techniques in dealing with artistic templates, photos, supporting videos… - The most important technical templates used by the two channels, we find that the press report dominates over the rest of the other types of journalism, due to the details that this type provides on the subject, In addition to the presence of the reportage and the interview through the employment of the expressive and artistic features of the subject of the event in Algeria, and the interview was represented in the various direct statements of the actors in the event.
