Abstract: The life cycle represents the changes in a person's life. It includes: “birth, puberty, marriage, and death”. This life path takes place in a precise temporal order, as it is not possible to skip a phase without going through the previous one. Therefore, this life cycle is surrounded by a ritual system derived from social culture. This is why each phase of the life cycle is accompanied by customs and rituals, which are known as “Rites of Passage”. Life-cycle customs are a social production that carries many connotations and meanings behind its practices, affecting all aspects of human life. The following study attempts to understand the life-cycle ritual behavior of Algerian women and its relationship to the dynamism of society, by extrapolating these customs and their functions into the general context in which they are practiced, as well as attempting to interpret their symbolism. connotations according to the different practices in the transit phases in the light of the cultural changes taking place in the research community.
