This study is interested in a pilot zone of the Northern Algerian steppe of Djelfa. It is about a region where the pastoral activity establishes for a long time, the basis of the social organization and the main economic resource. Today, facing the disorganization of social cloth, to the phenomena of desertification and to the erosion the courses know an intense degradation that puts in mortgage the future of the pastoral activity. It is in this worry that we elaborated a methodological approach aiming to characterize the present ecological situation, by using effective tools to know the remote detection. So the map of soil occupation containing a characterisation of the different courses of the zone has been achieved by the use of the Landsat pictureryen_US
