In This study, we conducted to the removal of copper ions from aqueous solution by adsorption onto natural clay from Tiout–Naama, on crude and activated clay. The activation of clay was carried out by a chemical process, by using H2SO4 at room temperature. The effect of contact time, pH, clay dosage and initial metal ion concentration on the removal of Cu (II) were studied. The experimental results showed the equilibrium was attained within 20 min of shaking time. The retention capacity of copper Cu (II) it increased with increase with pH, the amount of clay and adsorbent dose on crude and activated. Adsorption isotherms and kinetic studies show that they are good adsorbent for copper in solutionen_US
