Abstract: The aim of this work is to study the capacity of different adsorbents in the retention of humic substances contained in natural water dams of Tichy Haff and Kherrata. These two dams are located in Bejaia region (North of Algeria). Our choice was made on the powdered activated carbon (PAC), the granular activated carbon (GAC) and two raw bentonites from Mostaghanem and Maghnia (West of Algeria). The adsorption kinetics showed that the equilibrium is attained during a contact time ranging from 10 to 30 minutes. The variation of doses of adsorbents showed the good elimination yields of humic substances of surface waters tested and obtained for low mass of adsorbent between 10 and 20 mg.
