Jeunesse éternelle : Dilemme mythique entre beauté et monstruosité dans le Portrait de Dorian Gray d’Oscar Wilde

Abstract

Oscar Wilde a adopté une nouvelle forme d’écriture dans son unique roman Le Portrait de Dorian Gray, en se basant sur le fantastique pour aborder des sujets interdits par la loi pendant l’ère Victorienne. Il relate l’histoire d’un adolescent qui a vendu son âme au diable pour réserver sa beauté éternellement. Cette oeuvre est un processus d’évolution d’un personnage ingrat de sa condition humaine qui devient par la suite un homme pervers, homosexuel et monstrueux. De ce fait, notre modeste travail s’intitule « Jeunesse éternelle : Dilemme mythique entre beauté et monstruosité dans Le Portrait De Dorian Gray d’oscar Wilde ». Il se résume en une étude mytho critique du concept « Jeunesse éternelle » ; ainsi en une étude psycho-sémiologique du personnage principal. La problématique de notre recherche serait : comment l’écrivain fait ressusciter ce mythe à travers son personnage principal ? Et dans quel malaise il le fait évoluer tout au long de l’intrigue ? Notre objectif consiste à démontrer l’évolution du mythe de la jeunesse éternelle à travers le personnage principal de notre corpus, Dorian Gray. Abstract : Oscar Wilde has adopted a new form of writing in his unique novel The Picture of Dorian Gray; he used the fantastic to address topics prohibited by law during the Victorian era. He tells the story of a teenager who sold his soul to the devil to preserve his beauty forever. This novel is a process of evolution of an ungrateful character of his human condition who later becomes a perverse, homosexual and monstrous man. As a result, our modest research is titled "Eternal Youth: A Mythical Dilemma between Beauty and Monstrosity in The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde". We used the mythocritical study of the concept "eternal youth"; and the psycho-semiological study of the main character. The problematic of our research would be : how does the writer revive this myth through his main character ? And in what discomfort does he evolve throughout the plot ? Our goal is to demonstrate the evolution of the myth of eternal youth through the main character of our corpus, Dorian Gray.
