Investigation of the Effectiveness of Classroom Environment on Motivating student to Attend:The Case of First -Year EFL Students at Mohamed kheider University of Biskra

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of classroom environment on students’ motivation to attend. This study is a comprehensive review based on the knowledge internalization about the importance of classroom environment on attendance, and; sought the root causes of absences related to the classroom environments that impact negatively the student attendance. It aims also to clarify how classrooms must be designed to provide a good atmosphere for students and how motivation can be a valuable factor to solve this issue. The qualitative research approach was selected in this study. In relevance to this approach descriptive method is conducted in order to confirm or reject our hypothesis. Moreover; we have designed two tools included the classroom observation and students’ questionnaires .These latter was made for a sample of 40 students of first - year LMD in English Department of the Faculty of Literature and Languages, University of Mohammed Khider Biskra and also classroom observation . The findings revealed that the suitable classroom environment can motivate EFL students to attend energetically and regularly and reduce the level of absences. Eventually, after the results obtained from the two data gathering tools, the more the classrooms are well prepared and organized, the more the student attendance will increase. ملخص إن الغرض من ھذه الدراسة ھو تحدید مدى محیط أقسام الدراسي على تحفیز الطلاب للحضور. حیث أن ھذه الدراسة عبارة عن مراجعة شاملة تعتمد على استیعاب المعرفة حول أھمیة بیئة الفصل في الحضور ساعیة على الأسباب الجذریة للغیاب المتعلقة بمحیط القسم الدراسي التي تأثر سلبًا على حضور الطلاب, و تھدف ھذه الدراسة كذالك على توضیح كیفیة تصمیم أقسام الدراسیة لتوفیر جو مناسب للطالب, في حل ھذه ً وكیف یمكن أن یكون التحفیز عاملاً قیما المشكلة. كما تم اختیار منھج البحث النوعي في ھذه الدراسة , و إجراء الطریقة الوصفیة من أجل تأكید أو رفض الفرضیة المقدمة . إضافة على ذلك؛ قمنا بتصمیم وسائل لجمع بیانات تمثلت في ملاحظة الصفیة و استبیانات.و ھذه أخیرة وزعت على عینة مكونة من 40 طالبا من السنة الأولى LMD بقسم اللغة الإنجلیزیة بكلیة الأدب و اللغات جامعة محمد خیضر بسكرة وملاحظة الصفیة كانت أفضل وسیلة لجمع البیانات الھامة والكافیة لدراسة . كما كشفت النتائج المتحصل علیھا أن محیط القسم الدراسي المناسبة لتحفیز طلاب اللغة الإنجلیزیة على الحضور بكل فاعلیة و انتظام وتقلل من نسبة الغیاب. وفقا إلى النتائج المتحصل علیھا خلال ھذه الدراسة اثبت انھ كلما تم إعداد وتنظیم الأقسام الدراسیة بشكل أفضل ، زادت نسبة حضور الطلاب .
