Abstract: In recent years, there has been a jump of interesting research on the development of so-called traditional materials. We are looking for low-cost housing due to the scarcity and excessive cost housing for developing countries including Algeria. The compressed earth blocks can be stabilized by the addition of small percentages by weight of lime to improve some of its properties. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of curing conditions on the mechanical properties of compressed earth blocks (CEB). In this framework, three lime contents (6%, 10% and 14%) of the weight of the dry mixture and two conservation methods of (CEB) are used. The samples were tested for mechanical strength tensile and strength compression dry and wet. The results obtained showed that the cure by steam of lime stabilized blocks at 80 ° C for 24 hours in atmospheric pressure leads to considerably higher mechanical resistance for the cure obtained with the aid of wet tissues to ambient temperatures.
