Abstract: Corruption is considered one of the most obstructing social phenomena to the process of development and achievement of progress, advancement and prosperity of societies; it is an undermining scourge for democracy, reducing the state of law and institutions in various countries worldwide. Therefore, struggling it has become a collective issue characterized by thoroughness, and requiring concerted and gathered efforts of all formal and informal bodies, moving all sectors and various available means to combat and reduce it. The Algerian state has focused on the fighting corruption issue and improving governance. It made considerable efforts within this framework to build a reference plan by which it created many amendments that touched its legal, legislative and even regulatory systems. This, in order to adapt to the system of international, regional and Arab agreements, its fighting corruption strategy consists of two shutters, the first one, purely legal, consisted in the creation of a number of preventive laws and healing ones to reduce corruption severity and to prevent it, as to the second one, the official institutional framework consisted in the establishment of some bodies to carry on the task. Despite efforts exerted by the Algerian state in the fight against corruption and reducing it, this phenomenon is still witnessing a terrible spread and increase in various sectors of the Algerian political system. Such a situation requires the embodiment of mechanisms of control and accountability, and devoting the punishment and deterrence policy to all those involved in corruption cases.
