Abstract: The present study deals with the determination and control of non-uniform flows in road catchment areas and the evaluation of heavy metal contamination in roadside soils. In our case we studied the section of the National Road 3 (RN3), which crosses the wilaya of Batna. In the environment of the sampling sites there is no industry or dangerous activity on the environment, the heavy metals addressed in this study are (Pb, Cu, Cr, Mg, Al, Fe, Ni, Zn), their origin being road traffic. 33 samples were taken, 03 of which were road dust and 30 soil samples from different distances (1m to 80m). The samples were analysed by FRX. The results obtained indicate that the concentrations in the road dust were higher than those in the soil. The distribution of heavy metal concentrations in the dust is Fe> Pb>Zn>Cu>Cr>Ni, and the distribution in the soil is Fe> Pb>Cu>Zn>Cr>Ni in the direction of Biskra and in the opposite direction and it decreases while moving away from the road, while the distribution in the central earth is Fe> Cu>Cr>Pb>Zn>Ni. Climatic conditions such as wind, rainfall, temperature, moisture content and soil type also had a significant relationship with their enrichment in these roadside soils. The enrichment factor (EF) and geo-accumulation index (GAI) were calculated, as well as all elements with an EF ranging from moderate to high to extremely contaminated, reflecting the high anthropogenic loading of these metals in the study area and the results of the GAI accumulation indices confirm the results obtained for the enrichment factor (EF)
