Abstract

Textual thresholds are the discourse that the recipient faces before viewing the depths of the text. They are texts accompanying the text and surrounding it, which work to attract the recipient and motivate him to view the text. In turn, they help him understand the text, decipher its codes, and discover its insides. Textual thresholds are of two types, internal and external, represented in: Title , the name of the author, the naturalization mark, the dedication, the word of the publisher, the internal titles...etc., we find the novel "The Captive Rock" full of textual thresholds that the novelist relied on to link between its connotations and the body of the discourse. This study is based on an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter is devoted to studying the theoretical mulch of the thresholds in terms of concept, types, and sections. The second chapter deals with the most important thresholds mentioned in the novel "The Captive Rock", as it divided it into two parts, a part for the external formation, and under it the most important thresholds included. On the cover page, and the second part of the internal formation of the novel, and then concluded this study with a conclusion summarizing the most important findings.
