Abstract

The title is a functional structural structure, its presence made it an effective semiotic threshold that helps the reader to understand the narrative text and expose its declared and hidden intentions, behind which the writer wanted to communicate a message, and reach a goal The title as a link between the reader and the novel, this made it a dominant semantic authority, manifested through its different types and functions that determine the structural features of the narrative text, which we tried to work on in our study tagged "The semiotics of the title in the detective novel A cat among the pigeons by Agatha Christie", as a semiotic approach In this study, we have presented general theoretical concepts of the title as well as semiotics through the first chapter, as well as determining the formulation of the title and its types in the second chapter and we also dealt with the functions of the title in the novel. Finally, we have presented the outline of the findings.
