Abstract

The study aimed to identify the nature of the correlation between the meaning of life and the life orientation of university students. The questions were formulated as follows: 1- What is the meaning and orientation of life in university students? 2- What is the nature of the relationship between the meaning of life and the life orientation of university students? To try to answer these questions, a positive general hypothesis was adopted as an temporary answer and to test this hypothesis, the descriptive approach was used, and the study was conducted on a sample consisting of (259) male and female Students of Second Year Psychology Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Biskra, and to collect data, the Meaning of Life Scale of (Tawfiq Harun al-Rasheed 1998) and the life-orientation measure of (Nevin Fathi Accuracy 2011) were used as study tools, and after checking their psychometric properties were applied to the sample for data. In order to process the data, the following were used: percentages, arithmetic averages, standard deviations and Pearson binding coefficient using the statistical package: 1- Students' level of the meaning of life is average. 2- Students' level of life orientation is high. 3- There is a statistically significant correlation between the meaning of life and the life orientation for students.
