Abstract: This study aimed at exposure to hate speech and its role in increasing the severity of crises from the portal of the Algerian popular movement, as in the popular movement witnessed in Algeria since February 22, 2019, the Algerian people of all spectrums and categories came out expressing their opinion towards the ruling power at the time. Accordingly, this study seeks to shed light on the extent to which hate speech contributed to increasing the severity of crises during the period of the Algerian popular movement by following the descriptive approach and relying on the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information and data, as it was distributed to a sample of students majoring in communication and public relations, as well as political science, represented by 42 individuals. The study resulted in many results, including: - Hate speech is considered one of the most widespread discourses in the period of the popular movement, and this is formed in the discrimination and persecution between the partisan group that claims ideological libertarian thought and the non-partisan group's ignorance of what is happening in that period. - Slogans are ranked among the strongest and most effective forms of expression in the period of the popular movement, especially among the partisan group that has a political background and intellectual awareness that contributed to the adoption of this form. - Imprisonment and fines are among the most severe penalties for all forms of incitement, discrimination and social profiling.
