The treatise deals with the significance of Fakhr al-Din al-Razi in the light of modern linguistics through his book (Al-Majsul fi Usul al-Fiqh); That is because Fakhr al-Din al-Razi (died 606 AH) was one of the prominent figures of language, origins, philosophy, thought, and theology who contributed to the development of Arab and Islamic thought in the sixth century AH. The introduction dealt with the term semantics and its development through the ages in the West Bank and the Arab world, where reference was made to the term semantics among the Indians, Greeks and Romans, then the term semantics in the Holy Qur’an and Arabic dictionaries, the semantic concepts of philosophers such as Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina, linguists such as Ibn Jinni and rhetoricians such as Al-Jurjani, then the Renaissance And the last sections of semantics for the fundamentalists, and the first chapter was devoted to talking about Al-Razi’s life, his era, his effects, the name of his book Al-Majsal and his method in it. And the derivation and its role in directing the semantics of the words. The fourth chapter deals with the context (its divisions, terminology, fields of action according to Al-Razi) and the letters of meanings (their concept, their divisions, their meaning, the fruit of the difference in them) and the role of each of them in directing the semantics of the words. As for the fifth chapter, it dealt with the semantic fields (their origin, types, value, and manifestations according to Al-Razi) and the semantic development (its causes, methods, manifestations according to Al-Razi). The conclusion of the research came to include a number of results, including: - Al-Razi’s investment of both types of context elements in directing semantics. - His reliance on derivation in directing the semantics of words.en_US
