Abstract: The developed research aimed to understand the influence of masonry panels on the global behaviour of reinforced concrete frame buildings and in particular the effect of mechanical properties, openings, and the changing in the distribution. For this purpose, calibration procedures are used for defining the parameters of different types of simplified infill modelling based on available experimental work. The reliability of the proposed calibration procedures is evaluated based on available experimental data gathered from the literature. Then, a pushover analysis is carried out to evaluate the seismic performance, assess the behaviour of infilled RC, and study the results related to the capacity curve, maximum inter-storey drift (ISDmax) and energy absorbed. To provide a comprehensive view regarding the effect of the infill and their configurations, the proposed study provided an extended parametric study and assumptions regarding the effect of the infill configuration and spatial distribution of the infill walls on final fragility curves. Numerical models of the structures were developed to obtain the fragility data, simulating the infill structures using single strut models. The models were analyzed in the context of nonlinear dynamic analysis using incremental dynamic analysis (IDA). The intensity measure IM-based procedures were adopted to drive the fragility functions. The driven fragility functions were then used to compare the performance of the studied cases and assess the effect of the infill configuration on the overall performance. Noticeable remarks and findings in terms of distributing masonry panels within a frame are observed and several recommendations concerning the current practice might be essential to be considered.
