Title: classroom management as a dimension for effective teaching

Abstract: The present study aims at investigating the effect of classroom management strategy on teaching the first year students of English as a foreign language at the department of English, university of Biskra, in order to check this correlation, we have hypothesized that if teachers monitor students behavior, then they will create a positive atmosphere in the classroom, also, if the teachers know how to manage their classroom, then they will maintain and order in classroom environment. To verify the validity of these hypotheses, we have guided a pilot study, through which we have tested the student’s understanding of the questions and the relevance of their answers to our study, after we have designed the main investigations. This divided into two kinds of questionnaire. The first one is composed of thirteen questions and administered to sixty 1st year English students at the department of English, University of Biskra. The second questionnaire consist fourteen questions given to fifteen teachers teaching at the same department during the academic year 2012-2013 the discussion of the results has shown that using classroom management helps teachers to manage their classes and improve the level of their students.
