Abstract: This study aims to characterize the trace metal pollution (Cd, Pb, Ni and Cu) surface water and groundwater in the mining area of operation phosphates Hahotoè-Kpogamé to assess the health risk for people. Samples were analyzed by the method of atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results show that the surface water and groundwater are contaminated by these trace metals in particular lead and cadmium. It has been observed average maximum levels of cadmium of 24.74 g / l and lead of 258.9 mg / l in groundwater who are higher than the WHO standard for drinking water. These levels reflect the evidence of the bad quality of these waters with higher hazard quotients measured at 1 in the groundwater. The consumption of these waters without treatment could have negative impacts on human health in general and children in particular.
