Abstract: | Populations of peripheral city of Lomé districts use private water boreholes and wells for their traditional diet. But these waters are facing anthropogenic pollution. To highlight anthropogenic pollution on the quality of these waters, the physico-chemical characterization of 26 water samples from wells and four water samples from boreholes of Agoè-zongo area was performed. Thus the measurement of parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, and mineralization has been shown that 24% of the wells have acidic pH, 26% have electrical conductivities and mineralizations higher than recommended standards. Analysis of water wells and boreholes samples was also found nitrate levels up to nine times the WHO standards, and the concentrations of lead, cadmium, and nickel, respectively, up from 78, 26; 42.23; and 15.45 times the WHO standards. The levels of potassium and sodium are respectively up to 9 times and 1.8 times the French standards. The assessment of health risks linked to the presence of trace metals such as iron , lead, cadmium , and nickel on the health of populations showed that despite these groundwater are polluted , their use presents no risks. |
