Abstract: The textbook is an educational means that still enjoys an important position in the educational process. The digital textbook is the sophisticated format of this book. It appeared as a result of several factors ; the most important of them is the digital revolution. Many countries started applying it ; among them France. In this article, we will discuss the digital textbook focusing on the theoretical reasons for and the impediment to applying it in the light of the French experiment in this framework.
