Abstract: Since the 1970s, the international community realized the necessity to adopt a sustainable approach exist for a comprehensive water management and governance in order to maintain and develop them to achieve sustainability and equity in the distribution of the fact that this resource is in continuous depletion in the absence of the efficiency of existing systems, with the proliferation and expansion of national and global threats to global environmental changes and the accompanying challenges affecting the security and stability of States, and that is why, the water governance approach prerequisites for integration in the management of water, where a group of international and non-state actors between various sectors and areas and all levels in order to establish the principles of justice, transparency and accountability and rationalization in the conduct and management of water resources. Algeria has defined the scarcity of water resources and poor management, and worked on the adoption of the projects and programs in order to achieve sustainability in the water, but they still suffer from the challenges and difficulties constitute an obstacle to their capacity to achieve their objectives. Therefore, the adoption of the principles and mechanisms of the objectives of the water governance model is a strategic choice and rational management of water resources, a better alternative to improve the capacity to adapt to the new environment variables, especially in light of the growing scepticism on the phenomenon of drought affecting the climate in Algeria as a whole once again.
