Abstract: This study is part of a number of researches carried out in the mechanical engineering laboratory (LGM) at the University of Biskra, which is aimed in its entirety at improving the performance of heat exchangers and adapting them to the Saharan conditions. Solar air heaters can be used for many applications at low and moderate temperatures. There are different factors affecting the solar air heater efficiency, e.g. collector length, collector depth, type of absorber plate, glass cover plate, wind speed, etc. In this work we present an extensive comparative study on the thermal performance of two design of single pass types of solar air heaters without obstacles: i) conventional solar flat plate collector, ii) curved solar flat collector, which was invented and constructed for the first time by Dr. Mahboub at Biskra university. A theoretical model was constructed for both types of collectors, taking into account the new parameter, the curvature. We have sought to determine hydro-thermal characteristics for both SAHs. The results show a superiority of thermal performances of the curved collector in comparison with the flat plate collector
